A. Registration
1. When will registration open?
Registration opens Wednesday March 5th 2025
2. What are the registration rates?
The registration rates are listed on the main Conference website. (opens March 5th)
3. Can I bring a friend or family member with me to the conference?
All conference attendees must be registered and pay the conference registration fee.
4. I only want to attend a few sessions at the conference. Do I still need to pay the registration fee?
We only offer tickets for the entire conference, with possibility of ACEI membership for 1 or 2 years. There is no option to register for selected sessions.
5. I’d like to attend the Conference dinner and not the rest of the conference.
Conference dinner tickets are available for purchase via the registration page on the Conference website. (opens March 5th)
6. Who can attend the Young Researchers Workshop?
Applications for the Young Researchers Workshop closes 1 February 2025. Invited authors can attend the Young Researchers Workshop on 24 June 2025 which is part of the Academic Conference.
7. Are there grants or fellowships for attendees available?
The ACEI has a limited number of subsidies to help presenters with financial need attend the 23nd International Conference on Cultural Economics in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
To apply, presenters must complete this form by April 10th, which includes rationale for receiving the subsidy. All applicants must also upload a copy of the completed paper they will be presenting at the conference.
Subsides will be awarded on a rolling basis and applicants will receive an email with the decision on their application before the early bird registration deadline.
8. What is included in the cost of my registration?
Registration includes attendance at all sessions of the ACEI conference from June 24-June 27, including lunch and coffee on each day, and appetizers with drinks at the Tuesday Welcome reception and Wednesday Opening reception. Registration also includes attendance at the Young Researchers Conference for invited authors.
9. Can I bring my friend or family member to the opening reception or the Gala dinner?
Only registered participants are welcome at the Welcome and Opening receptions. All participants of the Conference dinner need to purchase a ticket, independently of the registration fee. Conference dinner tickets can be purchased via the registration form on the Conference website. (opens March 5th).
10. What are the registration check-in hours?
Check-in will begin at 8.30 am every day of the conference at the Information booth in the Theil building on the Erasmus University Rotterdam campus.
11. What deadlines should I keep in mind when registering for the conference?
Early-bird registration ends 15th of April 2025. After this date, the regular conference ticket fees will be in place.
12. My plans have changed. Can I get a refund for my conference registration fee?
Registrants can receive a 100% refund up to 10 May 2025, a 50% refund between 11 May 2025 and 1st June 2025. There will be no refunds after 1 June 2025. The transaction costs of 5,85 will be diminished from the original fee.
13. Can I still register to attend even though I am not presenting a paper?
Yes! Everybody is welcome and encouraged to attend the ACEI conference.
14. Is there a hybrid or virtual option for presentation/attendance?
All participation in the ACEI 2025 conference will be in-person. There is no virtual or remote participation option.
B. Location / accommodations / travel
1. When and where will the ACEI 2025 conference take place?
This year’s ACEI conference will take place in the Netherlands at Erasmus University Rotterdam: Tuesday 24 June - Friday 27 June 2025. The Young Researcher’s Workshop will take place on Tuesday 24 June 2025.
2. Are hotel accommodations included in the conference registration fee?
Hotel accommodation is not included in the conference registration fee, but we have set aside a block of rooms with special rates with three partnered hotels. Please see our website for more information and to book your hotel rooms.
3. Are meals included in the conference registration fee?
Coffee and lunch on each day of the conference are provided for all registered participants. We will provide appetizers and drinks for all registered participants at the Welcome and Opening receptions.
4. Do you have transportation- and hotel information?

5. How can I explore more about Rotterdam?
To discover Rotterdam you can have a look at the "Visitor’s guide" or "Welcome to Rotterdam".
C. International attendees
1. Can I get an invitation letter?
Letters can be granted to participants presenting a paper. If you need a letter of invitation for visa purposes or for other reasons, please e-mail acei2025@eur.nl with your request, along with a copy of your resume or CV with the legal name that is listed on your passport.
2. What do I need to enter the Netherlands? Do I need a visa?
If you want to stay in the Netherlands for less than 90 days, you may need a short-stay Schengen visa. Whether you need a visa to visit the Netherlands depends on your nationality and your travel plans (more information available on this Dutch Government webpage).
D. Presenters
1. When and where do I need to submit my paper?
We kindly request that you submit your full paper by June 1, 2025. You can upload your full paper in the same document where you previously submitted your abstract. Simply log in to your account and upload the full paper.
2. What style and format should I submit my paper in?
Papers should be submitted in PDF format and should ideally span between 15 to 20 pages, formatted using one of the following fonts: Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman, with a font size of either 11 or 12. All papers must be written in English. There are no other requirements for format and citation style but authors can follow the submission guidelines for the Journal of Cultural Economics.
3. Can I present my paper remotely?
All presenters must register for the conference and attend in-person.
4. If I’m just coming to present my paper, do I need to register for the entire conference?
All presenters must register for the conference via the registration form on the Conference website. (opens March 5th)
5. Can another person present my paper on my behalf?
All presenters must register for the conference otherwise they will be removed from the program.
6. What are the presentation guidelines and format for the paper sessions?
We will post a presenter guidelines by end of April.
7. My proposal has been accepted. What date/time is my session?
The final program will be published on the conference website on 25 May 2025.
8. I have been accepted as a presenter. Where do I find more information?
We will post a presenter guidelines page soon.
E. General Inquiries
1. What sessions will take place at the ACEI 2025 conference?
The sessions will be communicated on the conference website on 25 May 2025.
2. How can I find out when someone is scheduled to present?
The final program will be published on the conference website on 25 May 2025.
3. Where can I find networking and social events during the conference?
The networking and social events program will be communicated by the end of March.
4. What should I wear?
Please wear something comfortable during the conference and welcome reception. During the Conference dinner we advise you to dress casual chic.
5. What will the weather be like?
For the local weather report you can go to Buienradar (Rotterdam) or look on the Google weather app reporting its weather for Rotterdam.
