Students

Port Constructor gives students the opportunity to immerse themselves in port development and related dilemmas in an online learning environment. Experiencing the dilemmas and choices motivates the students to commit themselves to an educational programme. We use different working methods with the students. Below, 1 working method is described with regard to the port-hinterland mission.

Working method – Hinterland mission

This working method starts with a lecture on the bottlenecks and dilemmas surrounding sustainability. We then explain Port Constructor and make the connection between the mission and the college. Students get their own account and play the game themselves. The first goal is to get the high score. Then the students play the mission in groups and try to come up with a strategy from a stakeholder role. In the next working group, the students present their strategy. The students can ask questions to the other groups, and we then provide feedback.
