Patient Experience Stories collection

The University Library has a large collection of (mainly Dutch) patient experience stories. These experience stories are a part of a unique collection of the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM).

The collection – over 5000 books and other items – is on permanent loan to ESHPM. It originates from the CCC (Coleta’s Chronic Circus) Foundation, who collected these patient stories for years and described them on the website www.patientervaringsverhalen.nl.

The stories offer an in-depth insight in what it’s like to live with a chronic illness, or to overcome an acute medical condition. Other patients and family members can learn a lot from these experiences, but it also provides insight for health care professionals, policy makers and researchers.

ESHPM will continue to expand the collection and use it in research and education. The Library manages this unique collection to make it available to a wider audience..
