Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet

Since 1859, the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet has maintained a specialist collection with historical works and a focus on Rotterdam, but also with contemporary literature.  As a member of the Leeskabinet you are granted access to a first-rate private library and contribute to the preservation of this cultural heritage.

You will be able to enjoy the reading room, where you will find the newest books, reference works, and magazines. About six times a year you’ll receive an invitation to a lecture on history, literary fiction, art and culture. These are mostly in Dutch, but our interviews are subtitled in English.  In addition, the Leeskabinet annually organizes excursions exclusively for its members.

Members of the Leeskabinet may also borrow books from Erasmus University Library and consult the journals from this collection.

You may choose from the following memberships:

Member

For €40 per year:

  • you may borrow 10 books at a time;
  • you will receive invitations to activities and the Leeskabinet-newsletter;
  • you have access to activities and excursions (lectures, book clubs, etc.) for 1 person;
  • you’ll get a discount on tickets for selected activities from cultural partners for 1 person;
  • you are invited to the annual members meeting and lecture.

Member Plus

For €50 per year:

  • you may borrow 20 books at a time;

  • you will receive invitations to activities and the Leeskabinet-newsletter;

  • you have access to activities and excursions (lectures, book clubs, etc.) for 2 people;

  • you’ll get a discount on tickets for selected activities from cultural partners for 2 people;

  • you are invited to the annual members meeting and lecture.

Friend

From €75 per year:

  • Starting from € 75 per year you’ll enjoy all the benefits of a Member Plus.
  • You will also be invited to our exclusive annual reception with presentation and mini lectures about the collection (new acquisitions, special books, etc.) and you will receive a special New Year's wish.

 

Support Membership Student EUR

For €10 per year:

  • As a student you may use the collection of the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet and the University Library free of charge.
  • Support us with €10 per year and receive our newsletter and invitations to our activities.
  • With your contribution you support the development of the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet, library for humanities on the EUR campus. We finance our collection from contributions and donations.

Support Membership Employee EUR

For €20 per year:

  • As an employee you may use the collection of the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet and the University Library free of charge.
  • Support us with €20 per year and receive our newsletter and invitations to our activities.
  • With your contribution you support the development of the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet, library for humanities on the EUR campus. We finance our collection from contributions and donations.
