IMARC, the International Master’s in Advanced Research in Criminology, kicked off with 20 international students who origin from ten different countries in and outside the European Union.
IMARC is an interdisciplinary full-time programme that is designed to respond critically, scientifically and in a policy-oriented manner to the current demands in the field of border crossing, security and social justice. It’s a joint collaboration of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Ghent University and the University of Kent. The introduction was held on campus, considering the COVID-19 regulations, and hosted by the IMARC team.
It was an honour to welcome the new students to this two-year programme. The programme coordinator, Elisabeth Brein, kicked off with an introduction, followed by the chair of the programme, René van Swaaningen. He addressed the current issues of the pandemic as well as the global challenges of globalisation, migration and border issues. With an introduction Kahoot, the students learned more about Rotterdam, IMARC and their fellow students. We concluded with a photo session and started making visual history for the yearbook 2020-2022. We look forward to a very interesting start of the first semester with lectures on campus as much a possible, but at any time online available. The IMARC team wishes this new cohort an inspiring start!
