Last year, Prof. Harriët Schelhaas has accepted the position as Vice Dean Bachelor education Erasmus School of Law as of the 1 May 2020. As a member of our board, Prof. Schelhaas will further develop the Bachelor programmes of Erasmus School of Law, in close collaboration with the programme directors.
About Prof. Harriët Schelhaas
After completing her law degree in Leiden, Prof. Schelhaas worked on her PhD and as an assistant professor at Utrecht University. There she obtained her doctorate in 2004 for her research regarding the penalty clause in European contract law. Hereafter she worked at the law firm Stibbe in Amsterdam for ten years, after which she returned to science.
Since 2015, Prof. Schelhaas has been a professor of Private law at Erasmus School of Law. In 2017 she gave her inaugural lecture on the possibility of more consistent differentiation regarding commercial contractors. She is particularly interested in (international) commercial contract law and comparative law. In her teaching, Prof. Schelhaas aims to focus on the interaction between theory and practice.
In addition to her position as professor of Private law, Prof. Schelhaas has long been closely involved with the Bachelor programmes of Erasmus School of Law. For example as programme director of Legal Academical Skills (JAV).
