In Memoriam Prof. dr. Von Benda-Beckmann

On 5 October, Keebet von Benda-Beckmann died suddenly and to our sorrow at the age of 75. She was associated with the faculty for a long time, including as an aio-coordinator and extraordinary professor of legal anthropology. Afterwards, together with her husband Franz von Benda-Beckmann, she was director of the Max Planck Institute in Halle (Germany) for Legal Anthropology.

She was pre-eminently someone who sought connection, also in the collegial sphere. Many faculty colleagues and PhD students will have fond memories of her. She made important contributions to the faculty and the Erasmus University in many ways, including, for example, in the sphere of internationalization. The Erasmus School of Law will hold her memory in high honor.

Keebet is at the funeral home and crematorium Westgaarde, Ookmeerweg 275 in Amsterdam, where there will be no visitors. The farewell meeting will be held on Thursday 13 October at 15.30 in the auditorium of the above crematorium.

Our condolences go to the family of Prof Keebet Von Benda-Beckmann. On behalf of the management team of Erasmus School of Law,

Prof. Harriƫt Schelhaas
Dean
