Dutch aviation
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Dutch government supported KLM financially. This government support can disrupt market forces. Consolidation and network rationalization are needed in order to create a viable and resilient European aviation industry.
Different approach
This analysis mainly concludes that government support for the aviation industry actually keeps the industry from developing further. Hence, the government could start playing a different role. A more laissez-faire government approach will allow airlines to grow sustainably, innovate, and compete.
