Erasmus UPT and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel have explored the joint value created by the Ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp-Bruges for Europe. The study highlights their interconnection and strategic role within the European economy.
At the heart of the research is the integrated industrial cluster formed by these ports, partly due to their strong ties with Germany’s Ruhr region. This collaboration not only generates significant economic value but also positions the cluster as a key player in the energy and raw materials transition. In doing so, the ports contribute to strengthening Europe’s strategic autonomy.
