The Air cargo monitor 2018 has been presented. In this study by Erasmus UPT senior researchers Floris de Haan and Martijn Streng determined the economic impact of air cargo in the Netherlands. For the first time the employment and added value of the air cargo on and around Maastricht Airport has been included.
Employment and added value
The amount of direct + indirect employment on and around Schiphol has increased by over 1.350 persons to almost 26.000 persons. The total added value has increased with about 180 million euro to 2,31 billion euro. The economic impact of air cargo on and around Maastricht is that there are 1.740 employed persons, who realise about 137 million euro of added value. Total economic impact of air cargo related activities in the Netherlands is 27.575 persons (of which 15.999 direct) and 2,44 billion euro added value (of which 1,75 billion euro direct).
Looking at Schiphol Airport one can see that the growth of air cargo related activities is mainly realised in municipalities around the airport itself. Read these and all other findings and results now in the air cargo monitor 2018. Report is elaborated in Dutch.
