The EsCHER research group Health Technology Assessment of ESHPM is responsible for the research programmes in the field of health economics, in particular the so-called health technology assessment (HTA). This involves determining the implications of introducing, distributing and applying (new) medical technologies and assessing the resulting health gain. HTA aims to form a bridge between research and policy. Important research themes include:
- Decision-analytic modeling
- Late-phase studies & real-world evidence
- Multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA)
- Preference measurement / Discrete choice evaluation (DCE) & Time trade off (TTO) studies.

The EsCHER research group Health Systems & Insurances of ESHPM performs theoretical and empirical policy-relevant research on the structure and performance of health systems and health insurance markets and the role of health insurers as purchasers of health care. A substantial part of the research consists of contract research for public and private parties.

iMTA has developed several questionnaires over the past 25 years. These questionnaires are available for use by others to improve standardization in measurement in health economic evaluation. Currently available are:
