The Energy Transition Learning Community

About Us

The Energy Transition Learning Community is a community where regional partners, who work on the challenge of developing and designing solutions towards carbon neutral energy, collaborate with educators from our shared universities to find solutions for this urgency. Representatives from the local government and various energy companies learn together with our students and educators and tackle important questions. How will we make energy resources available for low-income citizens? How can social real estate’s such as sport clubs navigate the transition towards new energy resources? What can all partners in the community (e.g. Erasmus University, TU Delft, Rotterdam University of applied sciences, ROC’s) learn from the projects that students do?

People discussing Energy Transition

Together, we aim to integrate local cases regarding the energy transition into educational curricula, fostering a holistic understanding and encouraging active participation in addressing real challenges in the city.

Our Mission

Bridging Education and Practice for Sustainable Solutions

In the face of the global energy transition, our mission is to create a dynamic space that brings together the knowledge and expertise of educators and professionals. The energy transition is one of today’s biggest challenges and we cannot tackle this alone. In this community, we learn how to work together within the field of education, but also with the municipality or businesses. We strive to empower our students with the skills and insights needed to drive positive change in the evolving energy landscape. For stakeholders, it can be highly valuable to get a contribution from the next generation of innovators.

Where do we stand?

Every month we have a community meeting in which we share our expertise and exchange ideas.

In the last quarter of 2023, we have explored connections, networks, courses, cases and projects in the city that could contribute to this community. We have focused on bringing the right people together and shaped the functioning of this community. In 2024 we will start in full force by piloting collaborations with stakeholders and making space in courses to give students the opportunity to work on these cases.

Why you should get involved:

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Engage with a diverse community of educators and professionals from various backgrounds, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration for comprehensive problem-solving.
  • Real-world Impact: Contribute to meaningful projects and cases that directly address challenges in the energy transition, making a tangible impact on local sustainability efforts.
  • Community of Experts: Connect with professionals in the energy sector, building a network that extends beyond traditional educational boundaries.
  • Collaborate on Projects: Does your team or business need help with a case regarding the energy transition? Leverage the collective knowledge of the community and our students to create impactful solutions in the field.
  • Attend Events: Connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about advancing the energy transition in and beyond Rotterdam. Curious about our previous events? Watch the aftermovie of the Impact Dialogue: Energytransition.
