Scholarships

Strategic Urban Planning & Policies

You would like to do your master’s degree at IHS but you are worried about the cost? You may be eligible for a scholarship which can help you fund your studies.

When planning your finances you will need to consider the cost of tuition fees as well as other expenses including accommodation, travel, living costs, and study materials.

Where can I find a scholarship?

As an institution, IHS does not provide scholarships, but to help you in your search for funding we have created detailed information pages on some of the most common scholarships that our students use to fund their studies.

There are, of course, many other external funding options that you could be eligible for. The best way to find a fellowship is to take the time to research. Government agencies and charitable enterprises are often scholarship donors, so this could be a good place to start your search.

Am I eligible for a scholarship?

When you are researching external funding options, ensure that you check the application criteria. The criteria can vary greatly depending on the scholarship that you wish to apply for. For example, some scholarships are region-specific, country-specific or subject-specific, and the only way of knowing is by checking the individual requirements.

Scholarships can be a difficult form of financial aid to secure as competition for places on these programmes is mostly quite high. The best way around this is to give yourself the time to do as much research as possible so you know your options and are only applying for the fellowships that you are eligible for.

How to apply for a scholarship?

The application procedure will, of course, depend on the scholarship that you wish to apply for. Some will require the applicant to have an offer from their desired course before they can apply. If this is the case for the fellowship that you wish to secure you must first apply for your master’s course at IHS. Then, if you are successful, a member of our admissions team will send you an acceptance letter, which can be used to apply for your chosen scholarship.

Please bear in mind that the deadlines for scholarships may not coincide with the academic year and that you may have to apply for the course in advance of this date.
