University Library building closed during summer

Services University Library and Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet in the Polak building

This summer, the University Library (UL) will have the carpet replaced in the entire building and extra study spaces will be added. The building will be closed from Saturday 13 July to Sunday 18 August. The library doors will reopen on Monday 19 August.

We are making every effort to minimize the impact on visitors:

  • For our services, please visit the temporary service desk on the 4th floor of the Polak Building during the closure.
  • The opening hours of this desk are Monday to Sunday from 11.00 to 15.00.
  • You’ll find a small selection of the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet collection, from which you may borrow. Our staff is available for questions and you may pick up and return your requested books.
  • In addition to this selection in the Polak Building, during this period books from our depository are available for loan. Look for the description Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet Closed Stacks in our catalogue.
  • We recommend you borrow plenty of books beforehand. From July 1, the loan period for all books is extended to eight weeks (instead of the regular four). This way you may choose to return your books once the library has reopened.

Information on study spaces and more extensive information on our services can be found on the dedicated webpage

Please note:

  • From 8 July, preparations will start in the UL. Books and journals from the open stacks will be moved to another location and will no longer be available for borrowing. The relocation may cause some inconvenience.
