At the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet we believe that reading fiction, by way of its unique multi-perspectivity, trains empathic capabilities of readers and stimulates critical thinking. This is especially the case for literary works that represent diverse and inclusive themes. Our Reading Without Borders collection (RWB) may serve as a poignant example thereof. It consists exclusively of international fiction translated into English, offering our readers an opportunity to get to know each other’s cultural hinterland.

This collection stands out in that it thrives on the acquisition recommendations of the international students and staff at the EUR and the wider international community living and working in Rotterdam. This makes the collection unique, less canonical and more of all of us.
