Our open collection is located in the heart of the library building. In our charming alcove with wooden bookshelves, you will find the two acquisition tables for fiction and non-fiction with books that you can borrow right away. Here you can also sit down in a comfortable armchair and consult our extensive collection of magazines. In addition to classics, the cabinets contain a selection of contemporary literary fiction, mainly in Dutch and English, but also in French and German. We pay special attention to poetry, literary Rotterdam and our collection Reading Without Borders, compiled by and for international students at EUR.
If you go up the stairs to the second floor in the alcove, you'll find art books, travel stories, popular science, thrillers and more. On the ground floor, on the window side opposite of the information desk you will find philosophy, history and biographies amongst a variety of other topics.
Our staff at the information desk will be happy to direct you to the right shelves. View a complete online overview of the shelf layout.
All books in the open collection are available to borrow, at the Self Service Desk you can borrow them yourself with your library card. The employees at the information desk are happy to assist you. Our open collection is accessible during the building's extensive opening hours.
