Visit to the Peace Palace for the Master’s programme in International and European Union Law

On Wednesday 13 March 2024, a group of 14 students went on a guided tour of the Peace Palace led by an employee of the Peace Palace. Read more about their visit in this blog.

All students arrived on their own outside the Peace Palace at 9.45 hrs. for the visit to begin. After going through security, we were led into the main building of the Peace Palace. We were shown around the main building, going into the main court rooms of the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. The tour guide informed us of the history of the construction of the building itself, the history behind the Courts, the gifts that the Peace Palace had received from different member states and the artworks of the Peace Palace.

The tour ended with a short tour around the garden and a photo of the group taken in front of the Peace Palace. All students were happy with the visit, as it was an interesting experience to actually be inside the rooms where proceedings for the ICJ that we have followed in classes take place.
