Prof. Fabian Amtenbrink presents at prestigious annual legal conference of the European Central Bank

On Monday 2 September Prof. Fabian Amtenbrink, Professor of European Union Law at the Erasmus School of Law presented the outcomes of his research on the legal implications of the role of the European Central Bank (ECB) in European Banking Supervision at the prestigious annual legal conference of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt a.M. entitled ‘Building bridges - central banking law in an interconnected world’.

The conference panel in which he presented was chaired by the Vice-President of the ECB, Luis de Guindos, and moreover included Karen Banks, Deputy Director-General at the Legal Service of the European Commission, and Judge Miro Prek of the General Court of the European Union. The panel focused on the legal and practical implications of the application of national law by the ECB in the context of its role as a European banking supervisor. Professor Amtenbrink’s presentation (and paper) addressed the consequences of this composite administrative model for EU legal doctrine and constitutional principles.

Other contributions to the conference included keynote speeches and interventions by Yves Mersch, member of the Executive Board of the ECB, Judge Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and Peter M. Huber, Judge at the German Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht).
