Two of our first-year PhD candidates, Josje de Vogel and Fiona Unz, had the honour to present part of their research at the 17th conference of the International Association of Consumer Law, held in april at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States.
The conference, which focused on the topic of “Innovation and the Transformation of Consumer Law”, provided a unique opportunity to the attendees to engage in fruitful discussions with leading academics, practitioners as well as representatives of consumer organizations and businesses. Fiona’s presentation discussed the qualification of gig-workers as consumers in respect of the equipment they use for the performance of the gig-work, while Josje explored the issue of private lease as a form of consumer credit and the respective level of consumer protection. The conference was not only immensely helpful in terms of the input and feedback they received, but also enjoyable, due to the numerous activities that were organised and the international colleagues that were present.
