Dr Swinnen received a CLI-Fellowship for the development of a Tech Legal module

On 17 November 2020, Dr Koen Swinnen, Associate Professor of Civil Law at Erasmus School of Law, was given the good news that the Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) has decided to grant him a two-year Fellowship, which will start on 1 January 2021.

During his Fellowship, Dr Swinnen will develop a whole new online Tech Legal Module for first year law students. This module aims to make first years aware of the impact digitalization has on the practice of the legal craft and of the challenges that come with this development. The focus will be on conducting legal research. The learning outcomes and all sorts of other data will be monitored and evaluated over the course of two years.

About the CLI-Fellowship

The CLI-Fellowship is an initiative of CLI, focused on the joint development and improvement of education at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. To accomplish these goals, CLI created ‘Fellowships’ for innovative projects.

The Tech Legal Module is part of a bigger project lead by Prof. Evert Stamhuis, professor of Administrative Law at Erasmus School of Law. In this project, education focused on Legal Tech is developed in every year of the bachelor as well as, in the form of an optional course, in the master, focused on Legal Tech. The Learning and Innovation Team and Information Management of Erasmus School of Law are closely involved in this project as they support the development of education at an educational level and facilitate the creation and use of digital tools in teaching.
