On Wednesday 22 June 2016 dr. John Blad received the European Restorative Justice Award from the European Forum for Restorative Justice.
This award recognises and celebrates outstanding contributions to the development of restorative justice within Europe. He was praised for his contributions in both theoretical and practical fields, his frontrunner role in promoting Restorative Justice Practices in the Netherlands, founding the Dutch Flemish Journal for Restorative Justice and his influential contributions to the international discussion concerning criminal justice and restorative justice.
About the 9th European Forum for Restorative Justice
The conference was hosted by the Law School of Leiden University, not so far from the city of The Hague where many international courts and human rights institutes are based. Themes included were children’s rights, victims’ and offenders’ rights, the refugee crisis and radicalization, focusing on how restorative justice may positively contribute to these issues.
