As of 1 September 2022, Alessandra Arcuri has been reappointed as Professor of International Economic Law at Erasmus School of Law. This chair, within the Department of Law & Markets, succeeds the chair of International Trade and Investment Law, which Arcuri has held since 1 September 2018. The chair offers the opportunity to research how International Economic Law (IEL) could be reimagined to facilitate the sustainability transition.
During the term of the chair International Economic Law, Arcuri will build on her earlier research and focus on the legal issues concerning the sustainability transition. Arcuri will, amongst other things, research how international economic law (dis-)enables an economic system where environmental and social justice are central. She will research how IEL could be mobilised to steer the sustainability transition in the right direction and how legal tools in the field of IEL are being used or could be used to improve the sustainability transition.
Legislation and sustainable business
In line with the motto of Erasmus School of Law, Where Law meets Business, this chair will be focused on the impact of current legislation on business and on the way in which current legislation could improve the sustainability of markets.
The Board of Erasmus School of Law congratulates Alessandra Arcuri on this reappointment and wishes her all the best with her activities.
