The marketing group spearheads the MSc in Marketing programme at Erasmus School of Economics and co-organises the Data Science and Marketing Analytics programme together with the department of Econometrics.
Both programmes integrate large scale courses with small scale seminars where our staff integrates their own research and that of the field to bring our students to the forefront of academic research.
MSc in Marketing
Our MSc in Marketing distinguishes itself from others by offering the latest academic and practice insights, based on the latest data and analysis tools in economics and marketing. The unique combination of models, structures and real-life practice cases covers the entire marketing area - from target market selection, segmentation and positioning to quantification of marketing effectiveness. In an age where the ability to rely on data while building on both traditional as well as new media to contact and influence consumers and businesses is crucial, our MSc in marketing prepares our students for the marketing practice in competitive markets.
MSc in Data Science and Marketing Analytics
The MSc in Data Science and Marketing Analytics combines theory and practice from computer science, marketing, economics and statistics in such a way that the potential of Big Data can be used successfully to create greater value for consumers and firms. We offer our students a thorough understanding and knowledge of a wide range of techniques that can all handle the large and heterogeneous data sources that are prevalent in many modern business settings. We provide them with the foundation needed to select the right method for the right question, which we believe is the key asset for survival in the era of big data.
Bachelor programmes in Marketing
The marketing group also participates in the undergraduate programmes in Economics and Business Economics and in Econometrics. We offer a major in marketing (a specialisation track in the third bachelor year) with a strong focus on marketing strategy and evidence-based, i.e. data-driven marketing decision making.
We also offer a minor on innovation and marketing that provides students with insights regarding the specific nature of innovation related marketing by going through the entire cycle from having a great new business idea to the transformation of that idea into commercial success. The minor course emphasises both the academic perspective and evidence from practice through collaborations with companies such as ING and KPN.
PhD programme
At the PhD level, we participate in the Business Data Science research master programme at the Tinbergen Institute.
