Is IBACS the programme for you? On this page you will find more information about the admission requirements.

Please note: the Admissions Office of Erasmus University Rotterdam will determine whether or not your diploma grants you access upon receipt of your application. You can complete and submit your application even when you have not yet obtained your diploma and/or your proof of English proficiency.

You are eligible for admission if you hold any of the following diplomas:

  • Dutch VWO diploma
  • HBO propedeuse (completed first year of a four-year HBO programme at a Dutch university of applied sciences)
  • A secondary (high) school diploma equivalent to the Dutch VWO diploma. Please refer to the list of most common diplomas granting you access to bachelor programmes at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

There is no specific English language requirement for the VWO diploma. Please note: if you are applying with a HBO propedeuse, then you need to take an English language proficiency test.

  • You have obtained your diploma(s) or went to secondary school for at least two and a half years in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (with the exception of Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

If you do not meet one of the above requirements, then you need to demonstrate proof of proficiency in English through one of the following tests (you need to take the test in a test centre, online IELTS and TOEFL tests are not allowed):

Important! Test scores may not be older than two years at the time of application. Note that it takes several weeks before the results of the tests are known. If you have not yet taken any English test, then we recommend that you take the IELTS or the TOEFL (you need to take the test in a test centre, online IELTS and TOEFL tests are not allowed).
