Introduction
Are you an experienced policy advisor? Then we’d like you to join us at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) to help us strengthen our efforts to be a force for positive change in the world.

Even though you report to Myra van Esch, director of operations at RSM, yours is a standalone role in which you closely collaborate with colleagues in multidisciplinary groups.
Job description
As a policy advisor you are the bridge between the Executive Board decisions and the organisation. You are key in transforming strategy and ideas on how we can improve into clear, concise and actionable policy.
As policy advisor for RSM, you are the bridge between the executive board decisions and the organisation. You take strategy and ideas on how we can improve, and you transform those into clear, concise and actionable policy.
In this role you work closely with stakeholders from service departments. You are also part of the management team operations workgroup, which is charged with embedding top-down strategy and ideas into business practices.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Create a policy roadmap with clear priorities.
- Gather input from and align with various business stakeholders within RSM and the wider Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) community to reach a broadly supported policy.
- Consult with relevant departments such as HR, legal and finance to ensure compliance within the policies.
- Ensure Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility criteria are met, and embedded these into the existing and newly created policies.
- Work with our internal communications team to ensure all employees are well informed of changes in policy through the use of multiple communication channels.
Job requirements
You are an enthusiastic, dedicated, precise and trustworthy colleague with solid experience in a people function. You enjoy working in an international environment, and you have a strong affinity for the Erasmian values (Critical, Creative, Caring, Collaborative).
Furthermore, you have the following competences:
- Master degree in a relevant field of study.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a complex organisation, preferably within a university context.
- Professional working proficiency – spoken and written – in Dutch and English.

Employment conditions and benefits
We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).
This is a position for 38 hours per week (full-time), with the option to apply flexible working hours according to CAO NU.
We have a hybrid working scheme, where you can choose to work fully from the office in Rotterdam or partially work from home.
We aim for a start date between September and October 2024 and you will be based at Campus Woudestein in Rotterdam School of Management (RSM).
Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 4,332 and up to a maximum of
€ 6,737 gross per month (scale 11 or 12, CAO NU), based on a full-time contract (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU.
