“Rather than look on how to change students and staff, we have to look on how to change institutions” – Lisa Padden, University College Dublin. IDEA-net - an EU funded unique partnership of several European universities and institutions, coordinated by IDEA Center - hosted its second webinar on "How to set up an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) office".
To produce guidelines for this, many different groups were identified. During the webinar, a discussion on the objectives of having an IDEA office took place and our partners from University College Dublin went through the necessary steps to create an IDEA office in education institutions. After that, the participants were divided into break out rooms where they could discuss parts of the guidelines in more detail, and in doing so providing feedback and suggestions for improvement. IDEA Center's policy advisor, Paulo Carvalho da Silva, was the moderator of one of these break out rooms.
