EUR employees help Food Bank with over 100 donated end-of-year gifts

After last year's successful campaign, EUR employees were once again able to donate their end-of-year gifts to the Rotterdam Food Bank this year. On Wednesday 20 December 2023, ten EUR employees helped put together food parcels at the Food Bank from the 102 donated end-of-year gifts.

Instead of adopting the exact contents of the EUR Christmas packages, the university, in consultation with the Food Bank, chose to buy essential foods from the value of the EUR Christmas packages. The Food Bank indicated which products they prefer to receive, this way the people who receive the parcels will actually benefit from them.

Employees helped the Food Bank's volunteers on 20 December by putting together 800 food parcels. Eloïse Swets: “I thought it was a very valuable morning. It's good to get away from your desk for once and be able to do something for others.”

Lots of interest in helping

Over 100 employees indicated their desire to help out at the Food Bank. Because of this large number of applications, there is already a waiting list for next year, as there was room for only ten enthusiasts this year.

Would you also like to help next year? Send an email kerst@eur.nl. The colleagues taking care of the end-of-year gifts are already busy looking for a charity where a larger group of colleagues can help.
