The Societal Impact Days are organised at two different locations. On day 1, we welcome you to the Erasmus Paviljoen on campus Woudestein. On day 2, we welcome you to the Blue City Halls, just 7 minutes by bike from campus. Would you like to attend the Societal Impact Days? Then sign up using the registration form below.
Day 1: Impact-Driven Education - Monday 14 October
The focus on the 14th will be on impact-driven education. Join us from 11:30 at the Paviljoen for the first part of the programme. At 15:00 we will take the city by storm in a fun and educational tour, finishing at 16:30. This event represents the journey our impact-driven community has taken in the last four years.
At EUR, parties like Impact at the Core and the faculties have worked tirelessly on developing impact-driven education. Now it’s time to celebrate our collective achievements and to transition together to the next phase of impact-driven education. During this day we will showcase our work and tools like the learning landscape, and we will take you along in the learnings and dilemma’s surrounding the development of impact-driven education.

12:45 - 13:15 | Keynote by Taslim Alade “Enhancing Societal Impact Through Impact-Driven Education” With under six years to meet the 2030 Agenda, SDG progress is lagging. Impact-driven education can enhance this by engaging students and universities in societal change now, not later |
13:30 - 14:45 | Workshops “Two Sides of the Same Coin: Exploring Current Dilemmas in Impact-driven Education” Join us to explore and discuss key dilemmas in impact-driven education, drawing on four years of innovation and research, and discover new ways to drive meaningful change at EUR. |
15:00 - 16:30 | Taking the city by storm We will tour Rotterdam by tram discussing the impact we’ve made in our city through our education. There is limited space available in the tram, so full=full. |
Day 2: Impact Insights in Research, Education and Engagement - Tuesday 15 October
On Tuesday 15th, we warmly welcome the EUR community along with societal partners and peers from other higher-education institutes to join us from 11:45 to 17:30 at Blue City Zalen, only a seven-minute bike ride from campus!
Through guest speakers, workshops, and a lively Impact Inspiration Fair, this day will showcase a variety of notable developments relating to impact that have taken place in the three portfolios of our university (education, research and societal engagement) that can inspire others and provide useful tools to engage with impact.

13:10 - 13:50 | Keynote's - Unlocking our potential: What it means to be an engaged University Mags Bradbury, Head of Social Responsibility & Civic Engagement, The University of Manchester. Mags Bradbury is developing the University's approach to civic impact, building on its strong commitment as an anchor institution within the city and region. Prior to working at the University of Manchester, Mags worked for major institutions in the city of Manchester. Prof. Inge Hutter, Former Dean and Full Professor at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The research projects of Inge Hutter include actions for driving social change and often start from the perspectives and voices of a community or groups of citizens. The projects are co-created with research participants, NGOs, management teams, and local and national policy makers. During her sabbatical year, she conducted research on civically engaged universities. |

At the moment, it is unfortunately no longer possible to register for the Societal Impact Days due to the maximum capacity being reached. You can still register for the waiting list. As soon as a place becomes available, we will contact you.

In close proximity to the Societal Impact Days, we also invite you to join the Sustainability Summit on October 11th! This summit aims to unite students, staff, and academics across Dutch higher education institutions to act now on sustainability. The event will include action-oriented sessions to kickstart a national sustainability movement within academia. This event builds on the results of the EUR Sustainability Dialogues.
