Day 2: Impact Insights in Research, Education and Engagement - Tuesday 15 October
On Tuesday 15th, we warmly welcome the EUR community along with societal partners and peers from other higher-education institutes to join us from 11:45 to 17:30 at Blue City Zalen, only a seven-minute bike ride from campus! Are you curious about the full programme? Check it out here.
Interactive sessions
On Day 2 we will offer a variety of interactive sessions focused on impact through research, education and engagement. We aim to have sessions for everyone attending the event, including researchers, teachers, professional staff and societal partners.

Registrations for the sessions are on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are not able to register for your preferred choice, we encourage you to choose one of the other sessions! Please register for the Interactive Sessions via the registration form below.

1 | Impact research in practice with Pauline Owelle, Ignace Breemer and Emiel Gieles (Impact Centre Erasmus). Join us in a world café setting to discuss and address how to deal with a variety of challenges that may arise when carrying out research in practice. | De Balzaal |
2 | Flourishing diversity through constructive conversations with Madzy Maljaars and Wassima Ajarai (Erasmus MC). Using a game-based approach, this workshop will share a mindset that help prevent conflicts and foster open culture on the workplace. | De Dome |
3 | Open Science Escape Room with Willem Scholten, John Mills and Andrea Tarchi (Open and Responsible Science). Take up the challenge and break free from closed science with our escape room! Use your innovation, creativity, and research support skills to solve riddles and puzzles with your team and become an Open Science champion yourself. | De Skybox |
4 | Outreach in action: Creating connections with local communities with Anne Wijtzes (Academic Outreach Programme, AOP). Get inspired, learn about practical tools/tips, and explore the steps undertaken by the AOP to establish meaningful partnerships with schools and societal organizations in the city. | De Studio |
5 | How to unlock your team potential: a collaborative workshop with members of the Recognition & Rewards team. The tool presented inspires participants (in different settings) to think about individual and team talents, development, ambitions, and complementarity instead of only skills that are already present in the team. | Het Zwembad |

Join us to co-shape the next phase of the EUR strategy, aiming for more societal impact. 2 | Learning Communities: Introducing the 'Hittelab' and General ReflActions with Florian Wijker (Erasmus Verbindt), Jelle Burger and Sake Zijlstra (Resilient Delta, Convergence). This session shares experiences with initiating learning communities and introduces the ‘hittelab’. Interactively, we will explore conditions and topics for starting (new) learning communities as a pathway to impactful education. | De Dome |
3 | Navigating conversations on political conflicts with Yumna Asaf (IDEA Centre). In this session you will learn tools and strategies to effectively facilitate discussions about political conflicts in the classroom or other group settings, fostering respect, critical thinking, and intercultural awareness. | De Skybox |
4 | From experts to facilitators: How ethics education can transform teaching with Carinne Elion-Valter and Margreet Luth-Morgan (Erasmus School of Law). Incorporating ethics in courses requires teachers to shift from experts to facilitators: guiding discussions on dilemmas while fostering reflection in a safe, supportive environment for students. 5 | Journey of Progress game: Building a Theory of Change for diverse teams with team members of the Evaluating Societal Impact project. Introducing the "Journey of Progress" card set, a tool that empowers and enables projects, initiatives, and various organisational units to autonomously build their Theory of Change (ToC). | De Zwembad |
