IDEA Center (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access Center) of EUR prioritizes creating an inclusive climate, and that entails a.o. helping to prevent sexually transgressive behavior. We are working on this topic together with students and employees, and organisations like, a.o., Gemeente Rotterdam, Amnesty International, other education institutions, Wmo radar, and Stichting Stop Straatintimidatie.
Throughout the year we organise workshops and sessions to create awareness, and to break the taboo on talking about consent, sexual health and sexual safety. At these sessions we do not only create awareness, we also want to connect our community with organisations offering support.
Jacqueline Onyenze, Project Lead Student Engagement, about the sessions for students: “The workshops can release a lot of emotion from students. Personal stories are shared, and students indicate that they would like to have these kinds of dialogues more often.”
We will continue these important discussions and our collaborations to raise awareness. In two weeks, during Eurekaweek - the yearly introduction week of Erasmus University Rotterdam to all new students - we will be showing a video about sexually unwanted behaviour to all new students attending the opening at Rotterdam Ahoy.
