Programmatic assessment at the Educatieve Master Primair Onderwijs (EMPO)

CLI Fellowship of Rob Kickert

The Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) gives lecturers from Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) the opportunity to apply for a fellowship. With this fellowship, they research educational innovation, or carry out an educational project.
On this page you can read more about the CLI Fellowship of Rob Kickert (ESSB) about optimizing PA, both in terms of student motivation and decision-making within EMPO.

Programmatic assessment (PA; Van der Vleuten et al., 2012) has been offered as a promising new way of organizing assessments. Within PA, the number of decisions about awarding credits to students are minimized. Therefore, individual assessments can be maximally focused on motivating students and providing them with valuable feedback, while high-stake decisions about awarding credits can be based on the aggregation of datapoints. The Educatieve Master Primair Onderwijs is a 2-year Master's programme for academic teachers, that is the first EUR programme to start using PA. The aim of this project is to optimize PA, both in terms of student motivation and decision-making within EMPO. Throughout this project, we will share our experiences in implementing PA within the EUR community.
