This afternoon, November 14, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, we invite interested parties from the EUR community to the kick-off event Lifelong Learning at EUR. During this event we will tell you more about the plans from 'Crossing Bridges, Unlocking Knowledge' & Lifelong Development and you will have your turn in creative and active methods to provide input on the future of LLL at the EUR! From your own expertise or in general, what does the EUR stand for with its LLL? What makes us unique? What will LLL look like in the future and what do we need for that? We are not going 'Back to the future', but 'To the future and back'.
Lifelong learners are the future
Erasmus University Rotterdam has been working on Lifelong Learning (LLL) already. It must become self-evident for everyone to continue developing for the rest of their lives, even after completing initial education. A well-educated workforce is one of the foundations of the Dutch economy. In the Netherlands, but also worldwide, we are facing major social transitions that require innovative solutions. Socio-economic, social and technological changes are occurring at a rapid pace. This requires people to continually acquire knowledge and new skills. Whether it concerns the energy transition or the influence of AI: more and more workers need to train or retrain.
The government has set up the so-called LLO catalyst (National Growth Fund) to stimulate LLL in the Netherlands in various areas. The EUR recently received an amount of 2 million euros to professionalize our Lifelong Learning activities through the plan “Crossing Bridges, Unlocking Knowledge”. With this subsidy we will work on setting up an LLO organization within Erasmus University Rotterdam. Because: Lifelong learners are the future.
