Six different UNIC partner universities were the guests of the CLI at the end of May for the 'International Staffweek Learning & Innovation'. Following an open invitation to all UNIC universities, colleagues from the Centers for Teaching and Learning (CTL) from Oulu, Malmö, Istanbul, Zagreb, Cork and Bochum shared their insights and experiences.
This staff week stemmed from the 'job shadowing' visits that several CLI colleagues had organised themselves to various UNIC partner universities. Naturally, we were keen to welcome our hosts to Rotterdam ourselves. And how much more fun is it, when you can combine all the visits into a staff week with a full programme?
Topics ranged from the context and position of their country, city, university, and CTL to increasing teacher and student engagement, and from educational research and Fellowships to future learning spaces. With a wonderful finale being their participation in our annual event EdUconnect, with a plenary keynote and several activating workshops to choose from. Of course, there was also plenty of time set aside for social activities such as a campus tour, a walk through Arboretum Trompenburg and a tour of the harbours by water taxi.
We concluded this staff week with concrete agreements between Malmö and Cork, and between EUR and Malmö, for further cooperation in research into online education and teacher motivation. And of course with a personal network of European colleagues who can now contact each other much faster for further questions. This was the first, but certainly not the last collaboration of this group.
Thanks to Sandra Klarenbeek and Roxanne Annard of Real Estate & Facilities for the fascinating campus tour. And an extra word of thanks to Ilse Schenk and Rosa Landweer of HR International for supporting this initiative from its inception in December 2022!
