For the first time, we have a fully digital edition of the Eurovision Village. Initially, the Binnenrotte would be entirely transformed into a Eurovision fan zone, but this is not case for this edition due to the corona measures. Rotterdam has been precisely mapped out in the Eurovision Village and a number of iconic buildings have been enlarged.
This year, you will not be able to roam yourself among the crowd at the Eurovision Village. "The Eurovision Village is an indispensable part of the Eurovision Song Contest and we had big plans. I also shed a tear when we had to cancel this for the second time due to corona", says Renske Satijn, director of Rotterdam Festivals, in the interview with NOS. "But Rotterdam wouldn't be Rotterdam if we didn't look at what is possible. If the world cannot come to Rotterdam, we will bring Rotterdam to the world."
The digital edition kicked off as of last Saturday. Through an interactive digital playground, you are offered to opportunity to discover Eurovision Village the 3D, wander through Rotterdam virtually and feel the atmosphere of the city. At any given moment, there are 50 different things to do, including performances by Afrojack and various tours.
Eurovision x Erasmus
Tonight there will be two shows by Erasmus University Rotterdam at the 'Make It Happen' booth where you can experience what it is like to study in Rotterdam and where we will discuss the future of women. The video is part of mini-documentary where thought leaders in our community are invited to talk about issues they expect women will encounter in life after COVID.
