Erasmus University Rotterdam launches first alumni chapter in Shanghai

The Erasmus Alumni Relations Team proudly announces the launch its first international alumni chapter in Shanghai, China. Last week, a dedicated group of volunteers celebrated the launch with an event at the Rabobank China office. The programme, attended by over 50 alumni from the region, covered the topic of ‘Green Finance and Carbon Neutrality’.

After a word of welcome from the university’s president Ed Brinksma and Sue Martin, director of Alumni Relations, attendees enjoyed an elaborate programme. Firstly Jules van der Sneppen, Vice Consul for Economics and Commercial Affairs, gave a speech, as well as alumnus D. Paul Schuilwerve, CEO of Rabobank China, who presented an interesting keynote with the title ‘Mission Zero.’

Insights on how to tackle climate change

Secondly, panelists from companies like Shell, Johnson Controls and Nouryon shared insights on how corporates tackle climate change. Finally, a number of panelists opened the floor for debate about the environmental impact of the clothing industry and its legal risk assessment and management.

Erasmus University Rotterdam expresses its gratitude towards the alumni volunteers, speakers and panelists that enabled the launch of this chapter. We are looking forward to co-hosting more similar events in the future.
