I pursued this master’s to broaden my perspective and gain a deeper understanding of culture

I decided to pursue a master's degree in arts, culture, and society to supplement my previous art practice in sculpture. In my art practice, I observed cultures and addressed the differences between cultural communities to see how they affect communication, and I pursued this master’s to broaden my perspective and gain a deeper understanding of culture. Having spent a year working in Berlin's galleries and studios, I also desired to acquire a more comprehensive understanding of the processes that were taking place in my immediate environment. This master’s degree has allowed me to approach issues that affect us all on a daily basis in a more critical manner. In addition, I enjoy observing and talking about the power and significance that art has in society.

An international perspective

I deeply appreciate the fact that the teachings from my programme can be applied to situations that occur outside the classroom and gives me an international perspective.

A network of support

Considering quite a heavy workload, the fact that this master's programme has small classes makes it easier for me to communicate with my fellow students and establish a network of support. Lecturers are very supportive, and when you are working towards obtaining your degree, they take a very individualised approach to your education. I very much appreciate about the course is that it provides students the opportunity to pursue their personal areas of interest within the confines of the curriculum.
