The Library offers more than 900 study spaces. The vast majority of these are meant for individuals to study alone in silence. The library is also a place to meet, where you can consult sources of information and find information on a wide range of subjects. In order to reconcile these two differing functions, we have drawn up house rules for the Library:
- Please be considerate of your fellow library users;
- Treat the library facilities and resources with respect;
- Food and drink are permitted, but be considerate of others and do not leave any litter behind;
- Disposable cups are not available at campus locations, including the University Library. Would you like to use the coffee and tea machines? Then bring your own (reusable) cup. Look here for an overview of campus locations where reusable cups are sold.
- Bringing and consuming alcoholic beverages in the University Library is not permitted;
- The East study areas -1, 0 and +1 are silence zones;
- Telephone calls are permitted in the West study areas -1, 0, and +1, as well as in the stairwells;
- Library study spaces may not be reserved for others;
- Smoking is prohibited on the entire campus. Naturally, both inside and outside the UB, including electronic cigarettes;
- Animals are not permitted in the library, with the exception of guide dogs and assistance dogs;
- Please do not leave your valuables unattended. The library cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings;
- In the event of an evacuation, you are required to leave the building immediately and comply with the instructions of emergency service providers and evacuation officers;
- Access to library facilities and/or the library building may be denied in cases of damage, theft, misconduct or abuse of our facilities.
