The Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) contains sources under evaluation for inclusion in the Science Citation Index Expanded, the Social Sciences Citation Index or the Arts & Humanities Citation Index. The journals in ESCI will not receive an Impact Factor from the Journal Citation Reports.
Approximately 1.500 journals are available at launch and more titles will be added through 2016. The ESCI includes content published starting in 2015.
ESCI is automatically included in a Web of Science Core Collection search, unless this particular index is de-selected by the user in the search screen (under More Settings).
The citing articles in Web of Science include citing articles from ESCI - making more recent research better discoverable.
