Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet
Low metal bookshelves filled with books from the Leeskabinet. Students are reading in the background.

Most of the books in the Leeskabinet are available for borrowing. Depending on your type of membership, you may borrow five or twelve books at the same time. The loan period is 28 days. Books from the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet are automatically renewed three times, unless they have been reserved by another borrower. You can renew an additional three times manually, by logging into your account, sending us an e-mail, or asking our staff at the desk. Staff and students at EUR may borrow 50 books at the time.

If you receive a request to return a book, this means that the book has been reserved by another borrower. It is also possible that you have reached the maximum number of renewals allowed. In that case, return the book as soon as possible. If you fail to return books after two reminders, we will charge replacements costs of €50,- per book. Moreover, your account will be blocked. When you hand the books in, these replacement costs will be cleared and your account reactivated.

If books are not returned or if they are damaged by a borrower, replacement costs will be charged of at least € 50 per title.

Books printed before 1850 and other fragile or rare materials are not available to borrow. You can request access to these books by sending us an e-mail.

New acquisitions will be displayed on the reading room tables for several weeks. You may view these books in the library or borrow them right away.
