Two remarkable world-class writers, Pilar Quintana (Colombia, 1972) and Paulina Flores (Chile, 1988), will share the stage and talk about their novels, both recently translated to Dutch. Expect a profound insight into the work of these talented authors, a deeper exploration into their creative processes, sources of inspiration, and the themes permeating their works.

Event in collaboration with the literary platform Frontaal, Meridiaan Uitgevers, and Maximus bookstore.

Double interview by Femke van de Griendt and Berrie Vugts.

Pilar Quintana, acclaimed author of the novel Abyss (De afgronden) will take us on a journey through her imagination and her unique approach to storytelling. Her work has received international recognition and provides a deep insight into human nature and the landscape of Colombia.

Paulina Flores will enchant us with her novel Deception Island. Her ability to dissect family ties and tell a larger story by bringing a microcosm to life is highly inspiring.

This is a rare opportunity to meet two remarkable writers and experience their work up close. Don't miss this evening!

Paulina Flores received the Premio Roberto Bolaño in 2014 for her short story Een beschamende vertoning (Humiliation). For the collection of the same name (Atlas Contact, 2018) she received the literature prize from the Círculo de Críticos de Arte and she made it onto the bestseller lists in Spain - highly unusual for a collection of short stories.

Pilar Quintana's international breakthrough came with her fourth novel, Het teefje (Meridaan Uitgevers, 2021), for which she received the prestigious PEN/Translation Award for the English edition, The bitch. She received the Premio Alfaguara for De Afgronden (Abyss). The English translation of De Afgronden (Abyss) has been nominated for the National Book Awards for Translated Literature, the winner will be announced on November 15.
