The Dutch National Student Orchestra (NSO) is a project orchestra, consisting of 80 to 110 students. Driven by their passion for music, they each year go on a tour in February, visiting 10 of the biggest concert halls in The Netherlands and beyond Dutch national borders.

This year the NSO will play the beautiful pieces of Bruckners’ Symphony no.7, Elgar Cello Concerto and a composition from Christiaan Richter, composed for the orchestra. Maestro Jurjen Hempel will lead the orchestra, and young Cellist Ella van Poucke will play the magnificent melodies of Elgar’s Cello Concerto!

Every year this orchestra unites approximately 100 students from all over the country. For the participants, who get selected through auditions, the NSO represents a unique chance of performing like a professional musician. In February the NSO rehearses for ten consecutive days, in preparation for 13 days of high-level performing in major concert halls in the Netherlands and abroad.
