In recent decades, inclusive education has gained international prominence through various international treaties, conventions and calls for action. However, current research largely lacks (1) collaborative and transformative approaches, (2) student perspectives and (3) non-categorical approaches that examine all university students’ interpretations.

To address this, David Ongenaert (ESHCC) examined how ESHCC students interpret, respond to, and (re-)imagine inclusive classroom practices, and co-created inclusive classroom practices and recommendations with the students. The project relied on Feminist Participatory Action Research, including eight focus groups involving active co-creation and visual ethnography and one in-depth interview (N=42), and drew on and contributed to the Universal Design for Learning Model.

Curious to learn about what students had to say and how these insights are shaping new inclusive classroom practices? Join us for this CLI Lunch & Learn, where David Ongenaert will present the key takeaways from his project and recommendations for future practice.
