Network with colleagues while enjoying lunch and learn more about the interesting educational innovations and research taking place within and outside EUR. During this edition, Dik van Gent (Erasmus MC) will talk about the experiences with Case Based Learning in the OPTAMICE study.
Case Based Learning (CBL) will form the basis of the medical curriculum starting in 2024. To investigate whether this activating form of education has advantages, a study was set up in the second year of the Bachelor of Medicine to compare CBL with the traditional curriculum (OPTimizing AccoMpanying teachIng for Case based learning at Erasmus MC (OPTAMICE)). Tests immediately after teaching and six weeks after the exam show that mainly the retention of knowledge is better when CBL teaching is followed.
