The Community for Learning & Innovation (CLI) gives lecturers from Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) the opportunity to apply for a fellowship. With this fellowship, they research educational innovation, or carry out an educational project.
On this page you can read more about the CLI Fellowship of Dik van Gent (Erasmus MC) about how to combine the Case Based Learning journey with other teaching elements for optimal learning gains.
This fellowship project will determine which combination of teaching elements will be optimal for teaching basic concepts in biomedical education. Active engagement of students will be central to this teaching, in the form of a 'Case Based Learning (CBL) journey'.
They will mainly concentrate on the question how other teaching elements can support this journey. More specifically, they will investigate the learning gains that can be reached by adding a lecture, a knowledge clip, a self-study assignment, or a teacher-guided assignment to the CBL journey. The outcome will be assessed using a test directly after the teaching, a test after three months, and a questionaire for students and staff.
