I conduct research on how civil servants and political office holders deal with moral issues and integrity in their everyday work, and how that is shaped by the characteristics of their office and the political environment. I aim to contribute to insights that help to better safeguard and stimulate the integrity of (local) government.

Dr. Robin Bouwman studies how civil servants negotiate, the choices they make, and how final agreement is reached. He also studies behaviour and behavioural interventions in the public sector.

My research focuses on the design and management of such partnerships so that public organisations and governments can create public value together with their partners. For example, how do contracting and the design of relationships between organisations affect the functioning of a collaboration?
