Opportunities after graduating
We have carefully designed the Research Master programme to give you a head-start in your academic career as a researcher in the philosophy of economics, as well as in your research-orientated career in the public or private sector. See the profiles of our alumni.
Academic careers
Students of the Research Master regularly secure places on the top PhD programmes in the Netherlands (e.g. Erasmus University, Universities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam), the United Kingdom (e.g. Cambridge, Bristol), and North America (e.g. Pittsburgh, Toronto). Students are prepared for an academic career in philosophy of economics, and adjacent subfields of analytic philosophy such as philosophy of science, political philosophy, and applied ethics. Many students who have come through our Research Master are now academics who lead the field.
Private and public sector careers
The Research Master focuses on reasoning skills and on critical analysis of complex texts, problems, and ideas. We teach you how to write policy reports, and we give you the skills you need to excel in research-orientated careers in policy-making (e.g. Dutch ministries), central banks (e.g. the European Central Bank), and the private sector (e.g. consultancies).
