My name is Rahma. I am 21 years old and I am currently doing a Master's in Financial Economics. I am from Indonesia.
Why did you choose this study programme?
During my bachelor's, I did the Policy Economics major. While I enjoyed it a lot, I wanted to learn more about financial markets and look at economics from a more business perspective.
What is your favorite subject and/or favorite teacher?
The two courses I enjoyed the most are Advanced Corporate Finance & Governance and Fixed Income Securities. I really liked Advanced Corporate Finance & Governance as it was an interesting mix of finance and management. I enjoyed Fixed Income Securities as it gave me an insight into bond markets, which was quite new to me. My favourite professor is Professor Patrick Verwijmeren. He teaches Advanced Corporate Finance & Governance, and also the Seminar in Empirical Corporate Finance. He teaches very well and cares a lot about his students.
What is the most interesting you learned so far?
The most important thing I learned so far is the ESG (Environmental Social Governance) Strategy in Investing.
What is your favorite study-break spot on campus?
My favourite study break spot on campus is on the steps near Erasmus Paviljoen or the benches near the tennis courts.
What is your best tip for doing fun things in Rotterdam?
My tip is to explore Rotterdam as much as you can during your free time. If you like going on walks/runs, the Kralingen neighbourhood and the Kralingse Plas are both great. If you are a foodie like me, the city has a lot of different international cuisines and also nice cafes for you to try. In summary, don't forget to enjoy everything Rotterdam has to offer!
