Abstract
This paper contributes to the literature on the monetary valuation of health by applying the wellbeing valuation method to estimate the monetary value of a QALY. Previous work in this area estimates the monetary value of a set of health conditions (Ferrer-i-Carbonell & Van Praag, 2002). Others have focused on exploring subjective wellbeing to estimate QALY weights (Mukuria & Brazier, 2013). This paper estimates the monetary value of a QALY via subjective wellbeing. To analyses subjective well-being, the paper applies a relatively new analytical method that enables to estimate fixed effects ordered logit (Baetschmann, 2015).
