Registration deadline is 27 January 2025
Japans - Language & Training Centre (2017)

What will you learn?

The Japanese for beginners 1 + 2 course is a double level course: two course levels will have been covered by the end of this course. A great advantage is that you can automatically flow from beginners 1 to beginners 2 without having to take an exam in between the two levels. This course consists of twenty weekly sessions of 2,5 hours each. During this course you will learn the basics of the Japanese language, with emphasis on listening skills and oral communication skills in an everyday context . We will follow the course book 'Marugoto'. Topics that are covered include:

  • Introducing yourself and talking about your preferences
  • Ordering food, shopping
  • Reading time and calendar, and making an appointment
  • Giving directions, explaining what you have done
  • Japanese characters (46 hiragana, 46 katakana and approx. 60 kanji's) and basic grammar
  • Vocabulary and idiomatic expressions
  • Oral communication skills as well as reading and writing in Japanese;
  • Japanese culture and interpersonal skills

During the lessons you are requested to actively participate in conversation and oral tasks. “Marugoto” method comes with free audio and visual materials on the Internet, which will help you develop listening and speaking skills. The amount of grammar handled in the book will be minimal. You will also learn how to write short texts.

The final level of the course is beginners 2, similar to the A1.2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
