At the request of and in consultation with Erasmus School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (ESSB), the Language & Training Center organizes an English assessment for students who want to apply for a bachelor or (pre)master of ESSB. The assessment consists of an oral test with a teacher, a written test and a computer-based test (Oxford Quick Placement Test).
The next English Assessment ESSB takes place:
- Oral test: week of 11 November; make an appointment below (Online, via Zoom)
- Written test: Wednesday 13 November, 9.30-10.15 hours (in a pc-room on campus)
- Computer-based tests: Wednesday 13 November, 11.00-12.30 hours (in a pc-room on campus)
- Deadline: 4 November 2024
Important:
- There are fixed dates and times for the written part and computer-based part. You only need to make an appointment for the oral part; you will automatically be registered for the other two parts.
- Please be sure to mention in the remarks field, that you take part in the assessment for ESSB students. That way we can check with the faculty if you have indeed enrolled for a study program.
- The appointment confirmation will mention payment / registration via the Osiris webshop. As the assessment for pre-master students ESSB is paid for by the faculty, you do not have to register / pay for the assessment yourself. Upon approval from ESSB, the LTC will handle your registration for the assessment in Osiris. You will receive further information from us one week before the assessment.
The English assessment for ESSB consist of three parts:
1. Quick Placement Test (maximum 90 minutes) - takes place in a pc-room on campus
2. Writing assignment (45 minutes) - takes place in a pc-room on campus
3. Oral test - interview with an English teacher (15 minutes) - takes place online via Zoom
The results of the test is a score based on the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference. Level B2.2 is required for admission to a ESSB-Bachelor and C1.1 is required for admission to a ESSB-(pre-)Master.
Dyslectic students can get extra time to complete the written test. To arrange this, you need to contact the LTC via email (ltc@eur.nl) before the deadline of registration. You will also have to send a copy of your official statement of special needs.
